From: Champagne, France
Varietal: Champagne Blend
Tasting Notes: Lallement allows all of his wines to undergo malolactic fermentation, which you’ll feel as soon as the wine hits your palate; a rich, toasty, creamy, and dry core.
Pairing: Squash & Root Vegetables, Meaty & Oily Fish, Shellfish, Crab & Lobster, Cake & Cream, Soft Cheese, Hard Cheese, Salads & Greens, Salami & Prosciutto, Pork, Fish, Chicken, Duck, Onion, Shallot, Garlic, Nuts & Seeds, Fruit & Berries, Beans & Peas, Exotic Spices, Turkey, Pungent Cheese, Shellfish, Oysters
This particular Champagne comes from a tiny ten-acre vineyard in Verzenay, the only north-facing Grand Cru in France. Made of 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay this Champagne might be too much wine for some people, but if you are a fan of Krug and Bollinger, you must try it! The power and verve of the Pinot Noir in this Champagne are like nothing else. You’ll discover orange rind, crisp yellow orchard fruit, fresh bread and nougat. Medium to full-bodied, bright and chalky, with a pretty core of fruit and a boisterous mousse. It's one of the fleshier, more muscular wines in the range.
