From: Marlborough, New Zealand
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Taste: Our first wine from 2022! In the glass, it’s intensely aromatic and deliciously expressed, said Sam Kim from Wine Orbit about this 2022 Sauvignon Blanc. He also gave the wine 94 points and 5 stars.
He went on to say:-
“…the fragrant bouquet shows passion fruit, feijoa, kaffir lime and subtle musky characters, leading to a powerfully flavoursome palate offering terrific fruit purity and persistence. Gorgeously appealing and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2025.”
Pairing: The wine is light, so keep your pairings light: try fresh salads/greens, chicken, turkey, pork, halibut, crab, lobster, haddock, bass, cod, salmon, oysters w/ mignonette, calamari, or smoked salmon. Lean into these ideas with herbs and greens (check out David Tanis’ Asparagus Frittata with Burrata and Herb Pesto)- salmon with dill, for example, or recipes that include basil, coriander, mint, and pesto. Also fantastic with citrus-forward sauces.
Established in 1978, the Rose family estate vineyards are situated on the banks of the Wairau River (pronounced “why-row”). Pioneers in the Marlborough region, the Rose family selected vineyard sites along the banks of the Wairau River to grow their grapes. This river provides the wines with a distinct sense of place and the river’s stratification is the inspiration for the label design across all the brand’s varietals. The Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from five family vineyards across the Marlborough region, all located on the northern side of the Wairau Valley: Home Block, Cravens, The Angler, Rapaura, and Burnside.
