Taste: A wine marked by freshness and delicate hues of pale coral, it carries notes of crisp raspberries, strawberries, and white flowers while vibrant minerality plays in harmony with a hint of salinity.
“Made from Merlot, this wine is softly textured, with rounded red-fruit flavors that are brightly cut with citrus acidity. The wine is well balanced, packed with fruit and ready to drink.” — Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast.

About. Château Haut-Rian embodies the Dietrich family's vibrant legacy and spirited passion. The Château finds its home within the family-owned vineyards stretching across the picturesque landscapes of the “Premières Côtes de Bordeaux” and “Entre-Deux-Mers” appellations.
Michel Dietrich and Isabelle are a couple whose generosity and kindness have been the touchstone of their winemaking. Rooted in the lush vine-growing regions of Alsace and Champagne, the couple cultivated a profound affinity for crafting wines that echo the refreshing crispness and intricate complexities of their ancestral lands. They embarked on an odyssey that took them to Australia from Burgundy and Bordeaux's acclaimed vineyards. Michel then held a significant role at Rémy Martin Vineyards.
The winds of destiny eventually guided them to the charismatic confines of Rions, a medieval village with ancient soils and unparalleled potential. This idyllic sojourn marked the genesis of Château Haut-Rian, an endeavor to showcase the brilliance of the terroir. Their voyage was not just geographical but also a pursuit of intricate artistry, an exploration that transcended borders, merging the rich traditions of champagne and Alsace with the versatile landscapes of Bordeaux.
The echoes of this remarkable journey continue with their daughter, Pauline, who found her calling in the vineyards of her childhood. With renewed vigor, she embraced the teachings at Supagro Montpellier. She joined the legacy that Michel and Isabelle had nurtured, spearheading the day-to-day operations through ideals of tradition and modernity.
In their stewardship, the vineyards flourished, sprawling across 75 hectares divided into 87 parcels that span five quaint villages. The vineyards boast a rich diversity of soils, climates, and grapes, crafting wines that resonate with the style of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. The careful cultivation of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon thrive in the nurturing embrace of clay-limestone soils.
As stewards of the land, the Dietrich family embraces sustainable practices, a commitment mirrored in the certifications that grace their estate. The journey towards an organic certificate in 2025 marks a milestone in their dedication to nurturing generous harvests for future generations. This alignment with nature, certified by Terra Vitis and Bee Friendly labels, speaks volumes about their commitment to preserving the rich biodiversity that cradles their vineyards.
The Merlot grapes are found on vines on the sunny, sloping hillsides of the Garonne River’s right bank. Born from calcareous clay soils, the vines, averaging fifteen years, impart an elegance that resonates in the vinification process. The journey from vine to glass witnesses the grapes undergoing a transformation marked by finesse, decanted and fermented at low temperatures, resting on lees for four enchanting months.
