From: Columbia Valley, Washington, USA
Varietal: Chardonnay
Taste: You'll enjoy vibrant apple and zesty citrus notes in the glass, a prelude to the following complex palate. The pronounced acidity, a gift of its high-altitude terroir, harmonizes beautifully with the fruity overtones. Its aging in stainless steel captures the pristine essence of the fruit. The wine's texture suggests a possible dalliance with partial malolactic fermentation, though the specifics remain mysterious.
Pairing: Such a wine demands company- though, it is extremely enjoyable on its own or as an aperitif. Envision a table laid out with roasted chicken, its golden skin glistening. Perhaps a creamy pasta, the sauce's richness complemented by the Chardonnay's acidity (check out the recipe below). A fresh chicken Caesar salad offers a lighter alternative, while the buttery texture of salmon proves to be an exquisite match.

About. Nestled in the heart of Washington's scenic Columbia Valley lies a treasure of the wine world. The 2021 Ross Andrew Winery Columbia Valley Chardonnay, a product of this bountiful region, embodies the passionate spirit of its maker, Ross Andrew Mickel.
The Man Behind The Wine
For those familiar with the Washington State wine community, Ross Mickel's name evokes a symphony of emotions. Beginning his foray into wine as a sommelier at the esteemed Canlis in Seattle, Ross's potential was unmistakable, evident from his apprenticeship under the illustrious Master Sommelier Rob Bigelow. An odyssey through international wine locales enriched his palate, culminating in the establishment of the Ross Andrew Winery in 1999, with the guiding hand of Bob Betz.
Ross's offerings went beyond his much-loved Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The occasional Chardonnay and Pinot Gris bore his signature touch, encapsulating his philosophy of making wine accessible and enjoyable. He dreamt of stripping the wine of its pomp, advocating for its intrinsic joy and quality.
Yet, as with all tales of brilliance, tragedy casts its shadow. The harrowing loss of Ross, his beloved wife, Lauren Hilty, and their young son in a seaplane accident in 2022 near Whidbey Island has left an irreplaceable void. The community rallies, ensuring Ross's legacy thrives and a secure future for his surviving daughter, Lyla, with proceeds from the winery's sales.
