Taste: A sparkling wine classic. Over the decades, valiant winegrowers have terraced the steep marly slopes under the little settlement of Krasno to cultivate their vines. This one-of-a-kind terrain yields notably mineral genuine wines with a flavor found alone in Slovenia's Gorika Brda area. This charming bubbly is fresh, crisp, lithe, and delicate, with deliciously friendly citrus and orchard fruit buoyed by persistent perlage. Aromas and flavors of apple blossom, key lime, a hint of rounded grapefruit, and green apple notes over mineral, river rock textures lead to a lifted finish.
Pairing: Perfect as an aperitif, alongside appetizers, fried fish, and most occasions where there’s an assortment of differing dishes featured on the table. Some of the many examples include serving this alongside salmon/fish/crab cakes, lemony, garlicky shrimp and white beans, shrimp fried rice, wontons/dumplings/dim sum, chicken karaage, roasted winter vegetables, risotto (check out the recipe below that includes both roasted winter squash and risotto), and turkey or ham sandwiches either with cheese or cranberry sauces.
Risotto with Roasted Winter Squash

“This secluded almost hidden corner of Western Slovenia is often referred to as the "Tuscany of Slovenia" due to its hilltop villages, orchards, cypress trees and of course, its rolling hillsides lined with vines.
It is almost a mystical place because it is hidden behind mountain ranges to the east and north and there is only one road into the region from Nova Gorica.”
