Description
From: La Sologne Viticole, Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Taste: Aromatics like grapefruit, gooseberry, guava, Kaffir lime, white flowers, honeysuckle, mandarin orange, and crushed stone underneath a light herb component. Racy minerality and acidity slice through the rich citrus- and tropical-loaded palate, triggering a Pavlovian-like reaction. It’s ample, superbly refreshing, and impossible to put down after one glass.
Pairing: This zesty Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, with its vibrant acidity and distinct flavors, pairs well with a variety of dishes, including fresh seafood, herb-roasted chicken, and light salads. Its citrus notes and minerality complement dishes such as grilled shrimp, seared scallops, and salads featuring goat cheese.
About: Although located in the Touraine appellation area, Domaine de Marcé is situated in a smaller region on the border between Sologne and Touraine, known as La Sologne Viticole. To pinpoint it on a map, the winery is in the Department of Loir et Cher and the village of Oisly.
Seventh-generation winemaker Christophe Godet grew up with these vines. After attending school for viticulture and oenology, he took over management of the vineyard from his father, Daniel, a veteran of 50 harvests. Even in retirement, Daniel still offers advice and remains attentive to “his vines.
