From: Burgundy, France
Blend: Pinot Noir
Taste: The 2021 Damien Martin Bourgogne Pinot Noir is in a medium ruby red robe, boasting vibrant notes of cherry and wild berries, underscored by an intriguing floral character. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, maintaining a lively dark berry profile. It is rich and fleshy, showcasing a potent fruit core and an impressive finish. The distinctive aromas of wild strawberry, black cherry, and raspberry on the nose carry through to a round and rich palate, the intense fruit melding with silky tannins for a prolonged, satisfying finale.
Pairing: This versatile Pinot Noir finds excellent companions in various dishes. Pair it with a charcuterie board, and the wine's fruit intensity will complement the savory, salted meats. Try it with grilled salmon or herb-rubbed rotisserie chicken for a main course (we’re sharing a five star skillet chicken recipe below- check it out!). Its earthy undertones make it a suitable match for a wild mushroom risotto.

About. Domaine Damien Martin, the creation of Robert Martin, was born in 1975 with just two and a half hectares of vines, a small slice of the larger family estate. Situated in the village of Davaye, this location is renowned for its position in the limestone-rich Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy.
In 2010, Damien Martin began working with his father, extending their vineyard's reach to 18 hectares, including prestigious cru plots. Today, Damien oversees all aspects of viticulture and winemaking, honoring the traditional practices of the Mâconnais with an infectious passion. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thrive in these soils, dating back to the Jurassic period, exemplifying the quintessence of Burgundian terroir. With a commitment to sustainable practices, the domaine received the High Environmental Value certification in 2018 and is transitioning towards certified organic viticulture.
The Mâconnais, with its relatively southern location and limestone terroir, stands alone in Burgundy, hinting at France's more southerly climes. Domaine Damien Martin holds approximately 20 hectares of vineyards, featuring Chardonnay vines in Verzé, the lieu-dit of Les Maillettes in St. Véran and Pouilly Fuissé, and Gamay in Mâcon Davayé. Each vineyard parcel is defined and vinified individually, highlighting the nuanced climate and slope exposure differences. This Pinot Noir hails from 25-year-old vines thriving in limestone and clay soil. The result is a wine of depth and character, reflecting the careful attention paid to each vine.
