From: Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Flinty red apple skin meets tropical fruits; mango, starfruit, and passionfruit. There’s a fair amount of ginger flower and blood orange citrus on the nose too, which balances out the more tropical aromas quite nicely. On the palate, these flavors meet their aromatic partners quite nicely and pull together with a mineral core and juicy finish. It’s much brighter than one would expect from the nose alone, and there’s an almost grapefruit-like quality on that palate that belies its rich fruit in a way that will have you pulling another glass before you know it.
Pairing: We have two pairing recipes to share with you today! The first, from Mark Bittman for a Creamy One-Pot Pasta With Chicken and Mushrooms. The second pairing recipe is also by Mark Bittman, and this one is a classic. Cacio e Pepe!
