From: Vin de Pays, France
Varietal: Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot
In 1989, Burgundians Jacques Seysses (founder of Domaine Dujac), and Aubert de Villaine (of Domaine de la Romanée Conti), decided to join forces in search of great new vineyards, and along with their friend, Michel Macaux, chose to focus on the winegrowing potential of southern France. They came upon the Domaine du Logis de Nans, located in the Var, northeast of Marseille. Calling upon their Burgundian philosophy that great wines start in the vineyard, they focused heavily on the revitalization and care of their vines, which remain a priority today. Triennes enjoys a cool microclimate which produces wines of particular freshness and elegance. This is further enhanced by night time harvesting of the grapes so the fruit remains cool when it arrives at the winery. Grapes are pressed after a few hours of skin contact, and fermented at controlled temperature.
Tasting Notes: This cinsault-driven rosé also incorporates small quantities of syrah, grenache, and merlot, resulting in a vibrant, refreshing cuvée that offers delightful red strawberry fruit along with a hint of vanilla blossom and a squeeze of crisp citrus.
