From: Burgundy, France
Varietal: Chardonnay
Critical Acclaim: BH 92 Burghound.com
This is aromatically similar to the Perrières with just a touch more citrus influence. There is though more volume and richness to the bigger-bodied, dense and even more powerful flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting the clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This is less refined but offers both slightly better depth and persistence.
Taste: The Sur Gamay Blanc has received critical acclaim, with a 92 rating from Burghound.com, praising its aromatically rich nature, with more citrus than the Perrières. The wine is said to have more volume and richness, with dense and powerful flavors that coat the palate. The palate's sappy dry extract buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting a clean, dry, and youthfully austere finale.
Visually, the wine boasts a bright, pale straw color. The nose is an alluring mix of green apples, citrus, white flowers, and subtle mineral notes. On the palate, the wine bursts with flavors of lemon, lime, and white peach, with hints of honey and toasted nuts. Its medium body is complemented by vibrant acidity and a refreshing minerality, contributing to a crisp and elegant texture. With a long and persistent finish, the citrus and mineral notes linger, inviting you for another sip.
Pairing: In the heart of Saint-Aubin, the Henri Prudhon Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Sur Gamay Blanc is an exquisite wine showcasing the best of what the region has to offer. Perfectly paired with seafood, grilled vegetables, or light pasta dishes (check out the recipe below- we recommend taking out the chile and increasing the amount of mustard and black pepper), this wine can be savored now or cellared to evolve gracefully.

About. Nestled within the idyllic region of St. Aubin in the Côtes de Beaune area of Burgundy, France, the Domaine Henri Prudhon paints a picturesque tableau of Burgundian viticulture. With a history that can be traced back to 1945, when the founder Henri Prudhon and his wife Marguerite combined their vineyard holdings to establish the domaine, it stands as a testament to the timeless traditions of winemaking in Burgundy.
Henri Prudhon was a vintner and a respected figure in the Saint Aubin community, serving as Mayor for many years. His legacy is carefully preserved by his family, who actively contributes to the village's affairs. Gerard's son played a pivotal role in the estate's growth by strategically deciding to bottle their wines instead of selling them to local negociants. Today, Gerard's sons, Vincent and Philippe, have taken the reins of the domaine.
The Prudhon family's deep respect for Burgundian traditions is mirrored in their approach to winemaking. Their domaine encompasses 14.5 hectares of vineyards, producing approximately 90,000 bottles annually. With a manual harvest, the objective is to achieve a harmonious balance between sugar and acidity in the grapes. Their whites undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in barrels, while their reds undergo a short cold maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation. This intricate process reflects the family's vision to express the finesse and complexity of the terroir.
The 2020 Henri Prudhon Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Sur Gamay Blanc is a quintessential representation of the commitment and artistry of the Prudhon family. This wine emanates from the Sur Gamay parcel, located on a hillside overlooking the hamlet of Gamay, which is east of Saint Aubin. With its clay and limestone soils and southwest-facing vineyards comprising a mix of 20 and 60-year-old vines, Sur Gamay is a unique terroir.
