Region: Cotes du Rhone, France
Varietal: 10% Carignan, 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah
Tasting Notes: A rather big, and very well balanced red. Notes of dark fruits, cherry and plum, as well as chocolate and hints of anise. Delicious earthy finish.
Pairing: Dominated by Grenache this wine pairs beautifully with foods that have smoky or charred flavors, like savory, grilled meats, smokey BBQ sauces, and even grilled veggies. One of my favorite condiments is salsa macha. It can be stored for a long while in the fridge, be smothered on just about anything, and has the smokey love that pairs well with this red blend. Try Chipotle, Peanut and Sesame Seed Salsa Recipe from Pati Jinich. It will become a staple in your kitchen, I promise!
About: “Built on the heights of Cairanne, on the site of a former monastery, the Domain of SAINT ANDEOL, formerly called PRIORY OF SAINT ANDEOL, already existed in the year 1123.
Property of the Beaumet family for 4 generations from father to son, today Jean-Jacques and his brother Patrick are at the head of the farm, then will follow a new generation (the fifth), Marion (his daughter) who is preparing to take up the torch after his oenological studies.
In nearly 50 years, the estate has grown from an area of 6 to 35 hectares.
The particularity of the Domaine's vines lies in the nature of its clay-limestone soil, covered with rolled pebbles in places, planted on the hillsides, surrounded by pines and scrubland, they benefit from an excellent exposure of sunshine, thus giving very high quality wines.” -Winemaker
