From: Columbia Valley, WA
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Taste: The wine displays an alluring boldness that is characteristic of Washington State wines. With rich, dark boysenberry notes and hints of spice, the Glaze Cabernet Sauvignon feels almost regal. The wine's backbone is structured, and its French oak aging brings a delightful balance. You'll dive into molten dark chocolate aromas in the glass, underlined with black currant, blackberry, and cassis notes.
What sets the Glaze Cabernet Sauvignon apart is how it masterfully harnesses the big, warm style without tipping into excess. The texture is visceral, with inky black fruits leaving a well-rounded, lush finish. The wine blends the power of Red Mountain Cabernet with a touch of Merlot and Petit Verdot, resulting in a rich, bold, and delicious amalgamation.
Pairing: The 2019 Ross Andrew Glaze Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that begs pairing with a barbecue brisket (see below for recipe!), glazed short ribs, or a bone-in chop. Other pairing options include lamb chops with rosemary and garlic, grilled burgers, BBQ, kebabs, spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant parmesan, pizza, and taco takeout!

About. In the world of Washington state wines, few names resonated with the same warmth and vigor as Ross Andrew Mickel. The man behind the Ross Andrew Winery brand was an indomitable spirit in the winemaking community. Tragically, on September 4, 2022, Ross Mickel and his pregnant wife, Lauren Hilty, and their 22-month-old son lost their lives in a seaplane crash near Whidbey Island. The Washington State wine community is still struggling with this significant loss. Today, let us pay tribute to Ross Mickel and celebrate the 2019 Ross Andrew Glaze Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the distinctive wines produced under his masterful guidance.
The Man Behind The Wine
Ross Mickel started his journey in the wine industry as a sommelier at Seattle's renowned Canlis, where he studied under Master Sommelier Rob Bigelow. After traveling and gaining experience in various international wine regions, he launched the Ross Andrew Winery in 1999 under the mentorship of Bob Betz. His Woodinville-based winery primarily focused on Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, earning outstanding scores for his vintages. His vision was to keep wine simple and fun, striving for exceptional quality without making it an elitist pursuit.
Ross's philosophy resonated in the hearts of many, and his absence felt deeply. His friends in the industry have since come together to support his surviving daughter, Lila, and to continue his legacy.
