From: Voor-Paardeberg & Stellenbosch, South Africa
Varietal: Syrah, with a small percentage of Mourvèdre and Cinsault
Taste: This Shiraz finds itself on the lighter side of life. Fruits primarily focused on the red spectrum, with notes of plum skin, perfectly ripened cherry, boysenberry, and a hint of allspice and sweet tobacco both on the nose and palate. It’s a shockingly gorgeous Syrah, with a perfectly balanced, lively palate ready for any occasion and we highly recommend it.
Pairing: A great partner to casual Friday evening fare, gourmet burgers, gyros and homemade Mexican favorites. We also recommend trying this with wine with dishes that incorporate an element of exotic spices, as it brings out the fruit notes within the varietal. For today’s recipe, we’re leaning into those spice notes in Alexa Weibel’s Vegetarian Mushroom Shawarma Pitas.

The motto: Optimism, beats the pants off pessimism.
They want these wines to be an honest path for wine drinkers to delve into the special world of premium South African wines over time.
