From: Burgundy, France
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Refreshing aromas of white peach and citrus notes alongside a distinctive minerality (think of wet stones). Bright, supple flavors of melon and pink grapefruit are moderated by the wine’s crisp acidity, hints of herbaceousness, and a long, flowing finish.
Pairing: A fine aperitif, this wine perfectly accompanies snacks and salads with goat cheese or anchovies.
Domaine des Malandes cultivates 29 hectares (71.7 acres) of vines in Chablis, which go into a range of estate bottlings from Petit Chablis to Chablis Grand Cru. The domaine also produces this rare bottle of Burgundian Sauvignon Blanc, made from vines less than 10 miles southwest of Chablis in the tiny Auxerrois appellation of Saint Bris. Saint Bris received AOC status in 2002 as the only appellation in Burgundy whose white wines are made from Sauvignon (Gris and Blanc are both permitted) rather than Chardonnay or Aligoté.
