Blend: 45% Syrah- 45% Mourvèdre- 10% Grenache noir
From: Costières de Nîmes, Southern Rhône, France
We highly recommend checking out this article about Costières de Nîmes.
Ok. Seriously, this wine (also has a pretty severe label, but don’t judge it based on that!) is the epitome of everything said about the region via the article above.
With just a smidge of Grenache, and almost equal parts of Syrah and Mourvedre; this companionable southern red will have you jumping for joy at finding a wine that, dare I say, reminds me of a baby Bandol (but with open, smooth tannins), priced in the mid-$20’s and has aging potential!
Taste: This wine is a perfect balance between the strength of the fruit and a well-balanced elaboration period before release. Even when drunk very young it already shows a beautiful maturity.

Made from equal parts Syrah and Mourvèdre augmented by just 10% Grenache, this full-bodied red is a dark, sultry expression of the Costières de Nîmes. Blackberry and cassis on the palate are ripe but angular and piercing, shaded by hints of leather, fur and cracked pepper. It's a muscular wine framed by bristling acidity and a rim of soft, feathery tannins. Delicious already, the wine should hold through 2029. - Anna Lee C. Iijima
Pairing: The recommended pairing for wines like this are to go classic and bold. Red meats, game, strong cheese, pepper steak. That said, we’ll be sharing a recipe for Lamb Leg Steak with Olive Relish and Tomatoes by David Tanis. It’ll yield 3-4 servings and will take only about 45 minutes to make.
