From: Marsannay, Burgundy, France
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Winemaker Notes: "This rosé pays homage to the family’s history as it was his grandfather, upon returning from the war in 1919, who decided to try vinifying his pinot noir grapes into rosé wine for the first time in the Marsannay area. The delicate, soft, and fruit-forward result eventually became all the rage in Dijon cafés."
This was from the 2009 vintage, but we find the sentiment just as true today, 10 years later. "This can only be described as BRILLIANT Rosé. The nose is pure Pinot Noir, the complexity on the palate sings of Burgundy, and the finish is long and fine. If you have never had the pleasure of tasting a rose from Bruno Clair, the acknowledged master of rose in Burgundy, do yourself a favor and get some of this. Never heavy, but full of substance, and extremely versatile with food."
