From: Mâconnais, Burgundy, France
Varietal: 100% Gamay
Tasting Notes: Bursting with fresh strawberry and blackberry aromas, this Gamay also has notes of violet and licorice with balanced and enveloped tannins. If you like Beaujolais, this wine heralds the Monts du Beaujolais, just a little further to the south.
Produced in the town of Pierreclos, these vines are mainly on hillsides at 290 meters above sea level from a small 14 acre vineyard. The soils are granitic and sandy. It's fermented in stainless steel vats and further aged 15 months before release.
Pairing: Pair it with a terrine, chicken kebabs, or the classic French veal marengo.
Les Terres Secretes
Situated at the southern edge of the Burgundy region, the delightful terroirs of 'Terres Secrètes' (secret lands) are spread over the rolling, sunny landscape of the Mâconnais region. These terroirs are located, selected, and defined in the form of specific parcels of land-some of which are tiny-where the typical features of the particular plot are concentrated.
The Terres Secrètes winegrowers have marked out these distinct enclosures, perfectly-identified plots like little gardens of Eden, selected for their remarkable exposure and the age of their vines.
Voted Cave de L'Année - Winery of the Year - by La Revue du Vin de France, France's premier wine publication.
