Blend: Pinot Noir
From: Vosne Romanee, Burgundy
90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
"This too displays just enough reduction to blur the underlying detail of the nose. Otherwise there is an elegant and seductive inner mouth perfume to the velvet-textured middle weight flavors that evidence focused power on the equally grippy finish that is just a bit better balanced." (1/2020)
88-90 points Vinous
"The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Clos des Réas 1er Cru comes from the 2.12-hectare monopole of the domaine, though 0.4 hectares was pulled up two years ago for replanting. It has an attractive bouquet of well-defined black cherries, blueberry and hints of cassis and orange peel aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. There is good depth here, although I find that the Aux Brûlées has better assimilated its new oak. The finish is a tad disjointed at the moment. (NM)" (1/2020)
K&L Notes
92-95pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Pretty, medium-deep red in colour, offering a perfumed bouquet in a light but classy style. Plenty of finesse here, confirming the Clos in its 1er Cru status, fine and tensile, with additional energy at the back." (09/2020)

Michel Gros is a member of the sixth generation in a dynasty of Burgundian vignerons that dates back to 1830 in the village of Vosne-Romanee. In 1975 Michel, the eldest of Jean Gros’ children, began working with his father at the family estate, Domaine Jean Gros. He then established his own Domaine in 1979 and ran both properties until his father retired in 1995 and divided the Jean Gros estate amongst his three children – Anne-Francoise (Domaine A-F Gros), Bernard (Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur), and Michel (Domaine Michel Gros). Michel inherited the five acre monopole Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Clos des Réas, which had been in the family since 1860, two parcels in Nuits-St.-Georges, one plot in Vosne-Romanee and another in Hautes Cotes de Nuits. In 1997, the Ecard family entrusted Michel with the management of their properties in Nuits-St.-Georges (including the 1er Crus Vignerondes and Murgers) and Vosne-Romanee; and later, in 2008, a parcel in Hautes Cotes de Nuits. In total, Michel now farms 57.5 acres, of which 38 are located in the Hautes Cotes de Nuits.
