From: Mese, Lombardy, Valtellina, Italy
Varietal: Nebbiolo

Taste: In the glass, this shows a bright ruby hue with youthful clarity.
Aromas of wild strawberry, fresh red cherry, and mountain herbs lead on the nose, followed by subtle floral tones of violet and a touch of white pepper. The palate is crisp and vibrant, showing high-toned red fruits layered with cranberry skin, dried rose petals, and a trace of crushed rock minerality.

Pairing: This bright, unoaked style of Nebbiolo works well with dishes that highlight acidity, savory depth, or herbal elements. Its lean frame and crisp profile make it an excellent match for tomato-based pasta sauces, such as spaghetti all’amatriciana or a simple pomodoro with fresh basil. Try it with roasted poultry or pork dishes seasoned with thyme, sage, or rosemary.

About: Mamete Prevostini operates his winery from the town of Mese in northern Lombardy’s Valtellina region, close to the Swiss border. This alpine landscape is home to Italy’s largest network of terraced vineyards, shaped into the south-facing slopes of the Alps and supported by more than 2,500 kilometers of dry stone walls. These terraces, built entirely by hand, are so historically significant that UNESCO has recognized them as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. All vineyard work here is done manually, and the steep terrain requires complete physical dedication, from pruning to carrying grapes across narrow stone steps.
