"Produced from 0.52ha of vines in the centre of Nuits, at the end of the combe, where the cool air from the Hautes Côtes brings freshness and structure. Aged for 15 months in casks (30% new), the wine shows ripe plummy fruit, plus a pleasant combination of firm tannins and fresh acidity on a palate that leads to a slightly rustic finish. "The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Charmois comes from a cold terroir that confers an advantage in this kind of growing season. It has a very fragrant, well-defined bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry and orange pith. Not complex, but there is lovely purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite fine, sharp tannins. There is good tension and mineralité in this Les Charmois, and the saline finish gets the saliva flowing. Excellent. (NM)" (1/2020)
89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
"A cooler if slightly less complex nose features the relatively high-toned essence of red currant, floral and humus. There is both good energy and delineation to the unusually sophisticated mouthfeel for a Nuits villages, all wrapped in a finer if again slightly less complex finale. However, I suspect that this will add depth once it has been bottled and this too is one to look for. *Outstanding Top Value*" (1/2020)
90-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "There is a little touch of reduction, not unhelpful in 2018, with fresh plums, sweet raspberry notes and a fine and exceptionally long finish. 11/2019."
