From: Loire Valley, France
Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Fabulous steely, bone dry Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine. A great value alternative to Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé, fresh and zingy, the perfect wine to cool down on a hot day.
Pairing: As an aperitif, Goats Cheese, Asparagus
Owned by Pierre Plouzeau since 1976 and then converted to organic viticulture by his son Marc when he took over in 1999, the Château de la Bonnelière makes some of the most distinctive Chinon and Touraine of any producer in the area.
With a low-yield, artisan approach in the vineyard akin to the most sought-after winemakers in Sancerre, and a top-notch modern winery, Plouzeau's wines hugely outperform expectations. The Touraine Sauvignon Blancs, in particular, offer incredible value for money and should be regarded as a serious alternative to top-quality Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé.
