From: Loire, France
Varietal: 100% Melon de Bourgogne
Tasting Notes: Domaine de l'Ecu Granite 2018 has an elegant nose with pronounced mineral notes of flint, citrus, and salty elements. Its attack is clear and direct. Slim but with quite a lot of body. On the palate, it is a complex wine with mineral notes and citrus notes and a good persistence that is somewhat iodized.
Pairing: Seafood
Domaine de l'Écu Granite is a monovarietal Melon de Bourgogne wine from the AOC Muscadet Sèrve et Maine, in the Loire, produced by Domaine de l'Écu.
Domaine de l'Écu is a winery run by Guy Bossard. In order to produce high-quality wines, he prioritizes by focusing on the vine, which is why he cultivates his 24 hectares of vineyard biodynamically. In addition, he uses hardly any sulfites nor any of the modern techniques that can standardize the wine. He aims to ensure that his wines are a true reflection of the terroir they come from: that they are real wines, without luxuries or extreme ‘makeup’.
The vineyards for Domaine de l'Écu Granite cover about 3 hectares and their plants are around 45 to 55 years old. They are oriented to the southeast. Domaine de l'Écu has been cultivating them organically since 1975 and biodynamically since 1998. All of them are harvested manually to respect the integrity of the grape as much as possible.
