From: Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Varietal: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
Taste & Critical Acclaim: A deep garnet red, the wine has a refined nose with elegant light oak and aromas of ripe fruit, especially blackcurrant. Complex on the palate, with black fruit, blackberry and spice flavours, it has silky tannins, good body and lovely balance, ending on a long and harmonious finish of great refinement. - Producer’s Tasting Note
“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 De Sales rocks up with expressive blackberries and black cherries notes with an undercurrent of tilled soil, truffles and mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied, it has a solid structure of ripe, rounded tannins and impressive freshness, finishing with bright black fruit layers.” 93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Pairing: The intrinsic earthy quality of Pomerol, a hallmark of its terroir, beautifully complements dishes that are rich and savory. Braised, roasted, or grilled meats stand out as ideal partners; their deep, savory flavors intertwine with Pomerol's earthiness.. Think succulent roast lamb, beef bourguignon, or grilled portobello mushrooms for a vegetarian twist.

About: The estate has been in the hands of the same family for more than 500 years, making it one of the oldest in its region to remain under continuous family ownership. The Château itself, an impressive example of 17th-century architecture, was built in the 1600s and has been preserved and maintained throughout the generations. Its architecture, with classical French features, stands as a testament to the period’s aesthetic and craftsmanship.
The late 20th and early 21st centuries have been marked by significant efforts to enhance the château's reputation within the Pomerol appellation, spearheaded by figures like Henri de Lambert, who worked tirelessly for the estate and the broader Pomerol wine community. Following his leadership, the mantle passed to Bruno de Lambert and, more recently, to a new generation of 14 cousins who uphold the family's legacy, aiming to position Château de Sales prominently within the Pomerol appellation.
