From: Sicily, Italy
Tasting Notes: Highly aromatics with sappy black and red cherry aromas complicated by violet and underbrush, fermented in stainless steel before resting in French barrique for 12 months.
Pairing: Pair this wine with grilled steaks, Bordelaise sauces, a rack of lamb, and rumaki.
For eight generations, the Tasca d’Almerita family has been devoted to Sicily, its land, its unique nature, and its inimitable wines. Their story began in 1830 with the purchase of Tenuta Regaleali, a green oasis spanning nearly 550 hectares in the center of Sicily. Their focus on the ancient varietal Perricone, nicknamed "Guarnaccio" by the Regaleali winemakers, is paying huge dividends. Cultivated at the estate since 1954, Perricone is normally blended with Sicily's #1 varietal: Nero d'Avola. This stand-alone version has a lot in common with Barbera.
