From: Tuscany, Italy
Varietal: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot
Mannucci Droandi has made wine from their Caposelvi vineyards in the high lands of Gaiole in the Chianti Classico area for three generations, but they only decided to enter the market themselves in 1998. They identified the best Sangiovese clones in the Ceppeto vineyards, vinifying them separately with special attention. The wine spent 18 months in barriques (not only new ones) and 12 months in bottles.
Tasting Notes: Currants and mixed berries on the nose with notes of purple flowers and earth. Medium-bodied with quite firm tannins and a clean bead of interlaced
blackcurrant and oak.
