Eladio Piñeiro founded the Bodegas Mar de Frades winery in 1983 mainly to produce Albariño wine.
The winery was established in the Spanish region Rias Baixas before it gained the status of an official appellation. However, in 2003, Piñeiro sold the winery but retained ownership of the vineyards and was able to begin again with his new venture, Adega Familiar Eladio Pineiro, which makes both reds and whites.
The grapes are sourced from three key regions, Rías Baixas for Albariño, Alentejo for red grape varieties and Orujo were some Aqua Vitae is made. When it comes to the process of winemaking, certain biodynamic practices are followed.
