Harvested in confidential quantities, the grapes from these 60-year-old vines have succeeded for those who have resisted mildew in maintaining an admirable natural concentration. This Aloxe-Corton therefore offers a superb expression of fruit divinely held by refined tannins. The finish is sublime and attests to the potential of this bottle. In the cellar, David Croix seeks to develop wines that are the purest expression of the terroir and of the vintage. The harvest is destemmed but never crushed. Regular punching down brings a beneficial fabric to Pinot Noir which here delivers a lace score oscillating between finesse and smoothness.
Chaperoned by the famous American importer, Becky Wasserman, David Croix very quickly became manager of the Camille Giroud house. He learned in 2004 that one of the estates from which he bought grapes, Domaine Duchet, in Beaune, was for sale. In the course of a conversation during a visit from foreign investors, David Croix mentions this area which is for sale. The adventure is launched and the entire management of this area is therefore entrusted to him. Today, the estate has plots in red Burgundy, in Beaune on the 1st crus Pertuisots, Cent Vignes, Bressandes et Grèves, in Aloxe-Corton, Corton-Charlemagne and Corton Grèves.
