This Rosso Riserva comes from a DOC called Colli Euganei (Euganean Hills) within the larger Veneto region in the northeast of Italy, which encompasses a zone of conical hills of volcanic origin to the southwest of Padua. The Merlot at Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used in this blend were grown on 20-30 year old vines located in the municipality of Baone and a nearby village in the center of the Euganean Hills called Arquà Petrarca, named for the Latin phrase arquata montium (“ring of mountains”) as well as the poet Petrarch who spent the last years of his life there.
