Lafarge is a name calculated to bring the most serious Burgundy lover to their knees. On any list, Lafarge is in the very top tier of quality, producing wines of great purity and refinement that age beautifully. To us here at Champion, Lafarge is our church. Sadly, the 2017 vintage only produced one village level Volnay, which is pictured here. When purchasing wines by Lafarge, please do not drink immediately. You'll need a little time, I suggest waiting until 2022-2023.
"Barrel sample of final blend. From both the Pommard and Meursault sides of the appellation. Aged in 5- to 7-year-old oak.
Tangy red fruit and with a savoury note, a delicate sweet spice. Sweet, gently chewy tannins becoming silky on the finish. A depth of fruit and just lovely harmony, everything in place. (JH)" Jancis Robinson, 16.5+.
Certified organic and biodynamic, grapes are destemmed and vinified traditionally with virtually no new oak in the cellar.
