Tasting Notes and Critical Acclaim: "Heady scents of white spring flower, yellow stone fruit and whiffs of honey shape the nose. Reflecting the aromas, the elegant, full-bodied palate offers juicy Bartlett pear, yellow apple, acacia honey and a hint of white almond. Fresh acidity lifts the rich flavors." —Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 92 points (September 2019)
"A lovely, creamy wine, offering a well-spiced range of honeycomb, ripe apricot, lemon curd and pastry cream flavors. Light- to medium-bodied, with sleek acidity creating a mouthwatering impression on the herb- and smoke-laced finish. Drink now through 2028." –Wine Spectator, 91 points
"The Garofoli family harvests this verdicchio from ten parcels that range in elevation from 1,000 to 1,800 feet. They vinify each separately, aging the wine on the lees for a year in large underground concrete tanks. In the cool 2016 vintage, the wine is creamy and delicate, with scents of lime blossoms and sea breezes. Lively saline notes underline the crisp apple and pear flavors, as well as the wine’s pleasant almond bitterness." –Wine & Spirits, 91 points
"The Garofoli 2016 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Podium sees fruit from an important single vineyard that has been fermented separately since this wine was first made in 1991. With those years of experience under their belts, the winemaking team has successfully harnessed the primary freshness and purity of the Verdicchio grape. This is especially evident in a classic vintage such as 2016. Aromas of citrus, pear, saffron and crushed aniseed rise delicately from the bouquet. Some 45,000 bottles were made." –Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 91 points
"Also all Verdicchio, the 2016 Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi Classico Superiore Podium offers a slightly more reductive vibe in its spiced citrus, quince, and pineapple aromas and flavors. Fresh, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with good acidity, it's another terrific white that's going to shine on the dinner table." –Jeb Dunnuck, 90 points
