91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Outer quote mark The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a potent, personality-driven bouquet with conspicuous eucalyptus scents that give it an almost medicinal character, fortunately not so strong as to obscure the terroir. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture, a fine bead of acidity, modest weight in the mouth with veins of walnut and ginger toward the lively finish. This is one of the best wines from Michel Bouzereau in 2016, and it should give immense pleasure over the next decade. (NM) Inner quote mark (12/2017)
92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
Outer quote mark Whiffs of exotic fruit and wood surround the wonderfully pure if distinctly cool scents of pear, apple, white flower and mineral reduction. While the medium-bodied flavors are not quite as rich and generous, there is more refinement and minerality evident and particularly so on the super-saline-inflected finale. A classic Genevrières of finesse. Inner quote mark (6/2018)
91 points Vinous
Outer quote mark (from vines averaging about 30 years of age): Pale, bright yellow. Ripe, fresh apricot and peach on the nose; not a particularly limey style but revealed a more tangy aspect with air. A bit less sweet in the early going than the Charmes Dessus but less salty as well, with nicely integrated acidity giving the wine good inner-mouth tension. Flavors of stone fruits, spices and flowers carry well on the tactile, mouthcoating finish. But this wine is less demonstrative today than the Charmes and will need a bit more patience. Seven generations of the Bouzereau family have been cultivating vineyards in Meursault. Michel Bouzereau created his own estate in 1971, progressively developing domaine-bottling. He was joined by his son Jean-Baptiste from the early 1990s, and soon all wines were being bottled at the estate. Jean-Baptiste has been at the helm since 1999, building a new winery for the 2009 vintage. The estate now covers 12.5 hectares (30 acres).
There is nothing formulaic about wine-making here, with each cuvée being handled with sensitivity. A range of barrels of different sizes and oak ages are used for the fermentations, in immaculate cool, cellarage beneath the winery. Since 2011 vintage, the Bourgogne Chardonnay has fermented in large containers, to help maintain its freshness.
At village Meursault level, the single vineyard Les Tessons is always exceptional here. The vines grow on a south-east facing, well-ventilated hummock, which allows grapes to reach healthy maturity while retaining essential acidity. Four of Burgundy’s greatest 1st Growth whites are the flagship wines of the estate - from Meursault, we find Les Charmes, Les Genevrières and Les Perrières, and from Puligny-Montrachet, the 1st Growth les Caillerets, which comes from land which is an extension of, and on the same contour as, Le Montrachet itself. These wines are always beautifully elegant, always exceptionally well-balanced and long-flavoured.
