From: Bordeaux, France
Varietal: 65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: Deep red, it catches the eye with its bouquet of powerful notes of toast and spices, which is complemented by a ripe fruitiness. Very approachable and full of smooth spiciness. The wine literally reminds me of the song “Smooth” by Santana.
“From one of several estates owned by the Chanfreau family, this wine is packed with fruit. Its smooth texture masks solid tannins that will allow it to age. The aftertaste reflects the juicy, fresh character of the vintage. Drink from 2022.” —Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 92 Points
Pairing: This makes me want to mosey on over to FlintCreek and saddle up for pretty much anything on the menu, from the warm duck confit salad to the lamb sausage, or any of their main proteins. If you’re not a meat eater, the wild mushroom bolognese would totally hit the mark with this wine too. For our pairing recipe today, we’re sharing David Tanis’ Pan-Roasted Duck with Wild Mushrooms. Cozy flavors ahead!
