Ontañón is the name of the valley on the slopes of the Sierra Yerga Mountains where for many generations the Pérez-Cuevas family has owned land. Bodegas Ontanon is located just above the town of Quel in Rioja Oriental, the easternmost zone in the Rioja DOC formerly known as the Rioja Baja sub-area. Grapes from the warmer and drier Rioja Oriental are known to produce wines with deep color, great body, and richness.
Tasting Notes: The product of some very old vines, Ontañon Reserva displays notes of deep, full fruit flavors but with ample acidity, minerality, and earth notes drawn from the land where the fruit is grown. It has a backbone, fine-laced acidity, structure, and natural grape tannins that will ensure its integrity for years to come.
Pairing: This wine is the perfect accompaniment to red meats, game, Iberian ham, and cured cheeses.
