From: Nahe, Germany
Varietal: Riesling
This is a rare treat – a perfectly aged wine, direct from the winery, at a ridiculously reasonable price. Apparently, the winery uses these library releases as a "gateway drug"... once you see the potential of these beauties to age, you are unable to resist buying the young version!
Heck, this is only a few dollars more than the current 2017 Spatlese is selling for! Don't ask questions, just grab it up!
Tasting Notes: "Rose, peach and lime notes weave throughout the lacy texture in this delicate white. It's deceptive in its intensity and clarity of flavor, leaving a mouthwatering impression on the finish." –Wine Spectator
"The 2006 Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Spatlese Eisendell emphasizes melons, pears, and honey, giving a rich, lush, drippingly juicy and sweet, yet delicate palate impression, and finishing with impressive refinement and wet stone, smoky, tingling intimations of minerality. It was picked in the same parcel as the dry Spatlese but a few days later, and before significant encroachment of botrytis, says Hexamer. Enjoy this beauty ideally at anywhere from 5-15 years’ age." –Wine Advocate on the 2006, which we also have!
