From: Corsica
Varietals: Niellucciu and Grenache
Tasting Notes: This wine is the color of an ideal sunset, pink with glints of purple. It is structured and round, yet fruity. Notes of red berries and spice linger on the palate. A complex nose of fruit, spice, and everything nice that combines strength and finesse, and modernity while maintaining a classic Corsican identity.
Pairing: I’d love this with Jacques Pepin’s Salade Niçoise with Fresh Tuna. The pepper encrusted tuna will really sing with the rose.
About. Domaine Casa Rossa is owned by Maison Breban, which is one of the last family owned companies producing artisanal wines in the South of France. The House of Breban Wines has been producing a wide range of wines of varying styles since 1952 and has since added a full range of wines from Provence and beyond.
This rosé has an original style, which is produced through the marriage of an international varietal (Grenache) with a native Corsican grape (Niellucciu). Grown on the Ile de Beauté on predominantly clay-limestone soil, though also silty clay, red sands, and pebbles. The local climate has the benefit of plenty of sunshine year round, moderated by its proximity to the sea and the island’s mountain ranges.
Domaine Casa Rossa depends on the Aghione cooperative, located south of Corsica. From the vineyard, each grape varietal is vinified separately and then blended together to ensure the right stylistic balance.
