Blend: 100% Pinot Noir
From: Casablanca Valley, Chile
Taste: On the nose, an enticing bouquet of fresh red fruits such as ripe strawberries and raspberries comes forward, accompanied by subtle nuances of tea, herbs, and spicy notes reminiscent of black pepper and cloves. The volcanic soil's influence is evident, lending a distinct mineral undertone.
Upon tasting, the palate is met with a delightful acidity that invigorates and balances the wine's medium body. The smooth, reactive tannins contribute to an overall harmonious structure. A silky, fresh, and refined finish lingers, making this Pinot Noir Reserva a beautifully crafted example of the varietal from the Casablanca Valley.
Pairing: The wine's bright acidity, red fruit flavors, and medium body make it an ideal companion for a wide range of dishes. Consider pairing it with grilled chicken, roasted vegetable medleys, or salads featuring goat cheese and nuts. The wine's versatility also lends itself to pairing with oily fish like salmon or tuna, served with a light, citrus-based sauce.
For a regional Chilean pairing, consider serving the wine alongside dishes such as pastel de choclo (a corn and meat pie), empanadas de pino (baked pastry filled with beef, onions, and spices), or cazuela (a hearty Chilean stew made with meat, vegetables, and rice).
For vegetarian options, pair this wine with dishes like mushroom risotto, roasted beet salad with goat cheese, or a vegetable quiche. The earthy flavors of the mushrooms, beets, and vegetables will be enhanced by the wine's fresh fruit and herbal notes, while the acidity will cut through the richness of the cheese and creamy textures.
We were inspired by the empanadas de pino note above and found the recipe we’re sharing below, for a vegetarian Chilean empanada!

About. Volcanes de Chile wines come from vineyards that contain volcanic soils and their aim is to ensure all products reflect the unique minerality of each site. Chile has over 2,900 volcanoes and the vineyards are in different valleys across the country with deeper sub-soils rich in volcanic matter which help the vine withstand high temperatures, retain humidity, and offer good drainage. For Volcanes de Chile the volcanic character is an attribute which makes our wines more vibrant and richer with greater complexity in aromas and on the palate. Our philosophy is to produce wines which reflect this unique and carefully studied origin and display the purity of the grape varietals without excessive use of oak.
