From: Veneto, Italy
Varietal: Pinot Grigio
Taste: Deliciously dry, medium-bodied, and fresh. Citrus, green apple, white peach and lemon zest are immediately present in the glass. On the palate, this charming Italian white wine is not your basic Pinot Grigio. Well-balanced flavors of peach, melon, and grapefruit meld seamlessly with the fruits and citrus found on the nose and leaves a rounded, smooth, and dry impression with a hint of almond on the finish.
Pairing: This awesome white wine pairs best with fare that’s both light and savory. Some examples include dishes that incorporate grilled chicken, grilled flaky fish, and veggies. Seafood and shellfish like grilled or sautéed shrimp (check out the recipe below), fried/grilled halibut or trout and salmon with citrus also make for a beautiful pairing with this wine. Appetizers or a light no-cook meal? They’re both perfect. Create a cheese board with Gouda, Gruyère, goat cheese, and feta, along with crudites and hummus and you’re set.
