From: Burgundy, France
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: A powerful nose of dark cherry and purple flowers marks the wine as something special, which the palate carries through. Beautiful and textured in the mouth, it shows dark cherries, spice and wonderful fullness.
Note: This wine needs air at this current moment. Once it opens you'll enjoy all the flavors above, but it does need a smidge of patience (~30 minutes). Please let this wine unravel itself slowly in the bottle or in your glass before enjoying. Definitely an amazing value now, and even more so in the next 5-10 years. - November, 2021 - Erin Lyman, Champion Wine Cellars.
Being a Burgundy lover on a budget is not always easy, but finding a producer you can trust makes the search much simpler. Damien Gachot has produced a wine that aims to please every Burgundy lover’s palate. Sourcing grapes from the village of Corgoloin in the southern end of the Côtes de Nuits, he presents a wine with the velvety character of the Côtes de Beaune while maintaining the structure and finesse of the Côtes de Nuits. From the soft fruit to the exotic spice, this bottle provides something for everyone. —Will Meinberg
The wines of Gachot-Monot represent some of the best values in the KLWM portfolio – not because they are the least expensive, but because they offer an outstanding price-to-quality ratio. Damien Gachot may work the vineyards of the lesser-known Côtes de Nuits Villages appellation, but he works his vines as if they were premier cru fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges. Damien first came to Kermit’s attention via a trusted source—the master of La Tâche himself, Aubert de Villaine. Ever-smiling and tireless in his work, Damien was first saluted by the Hospices de Beaune as a young talent to be watched. We have been proud to import his wine since the 2000 vintage.
