Description

From: McMinnville, Oregon
Varietal: Pinot Gris, Grüner Veltliner

Taste: In the glass, this pours a cloudy peachy-gold hue from the skin contact on the Pinot Gris. Aromatically, it opens with orange peel, bruised pear, dried wildflowers, and fennel pollen, followed by cider and flint. The palate is supple and textural, showing a soft grip from the skins with notes of apricot, quince, citrus pith, and chamomile. A mineral line of salinity runs beneath the fruit, adding focus and lift. The wine finishes dry and slightly savory, with lingering herbal and orchard fruit tones.

Pairing: The gentle tannic grip and broad texture of "Nerthus" make it an ideal match for dishes with richness or spice balanced by acidity. It pairs well with grilled or roasted white meats, such as chicken with sumac and preserved lemon or pork with fennel and apple. Vegetable-forward dishes like roasted carrots with tahini or charred leeks with romesco work beautifully with the wine’s herbal and citrus notes.

About: Kelley Fox Wines is based in McMinnville, Oregon, a town long associated with independent-minded producers at the vanguard of Oregon Pinot Noir. Established in 2007, the winery is owned and operated by Kelley Fox, who also serves as head winemaker. Her approach to viticulture and winemaking has set her apart from the mainstream in the Willamette Valley, both in philosophy and execution. Kelley holds degrees in both biochemistry and biophysics, a scientific background that informs her technical rigor, but a highly intuitive, vineyard-first approach defines her winemaking.
