From: Wahluke Slope, Columbia Valley, Washington

Tasting Notes: This bold Cabernet begins with aromas of blackberry, vanilla, and coffee, followed by layered flavors of black cherry, dark plum and sweet spices. Structured by fine, firm tannins and well-integrated acidity.
Pairing: Try this wine with a simple cut of steak or a pork chop along with a side of this Spinach Gratin recipe from Ina Garten’s 2001 book, Barefoot Contessa Parties!. It doesn’t take too long to prepare, and makes for some delicious next-day leftovers!
About. This offering of Cabernet Sauvignon marks a slight deviation from the Portlandia winery’s roots in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, as it was sourced from world class vineyards in the Wahluke Slope region of the Columbia Valley in Washington. However, it remains in keeping with the brand’s focus on making wines to be enjoyed and to enhance the everyday.
The 2019 vintage in the Columbia Valley was shaped by cooler than usual weather, beginning with a moderate spring that led to a later bud break than past years. Temperatures throughout the summer remained temperate and mild. This allowed the gripes to ripen slowly and develop great concentration of flavor, while maintaining bright, balanced acidity. The wine was aged for 15 months in a combination of 20% new and 80% used French oak barrels.
