The Rosell Mir family has cultivated the Can Guineu farm in Subirats, 30 Km south of Barcelona, since the fifteenth century. The family began making wine and brandies in 1776 from their grapes and sold them in bulk. That was until 1979 when the current owner Josep M Rosell, 17th generation, began bottling the wine under their own brand. The farm has 64 hectares of Xarel·lo, Macabeu, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Garnatxa Blanca organically grown in Subirats and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.
Their climate is typically the Mediterranean, with hot dry summers and mild winters. The vineyards in Subirats, where the winery is, are located between the Subirats mountains and the Noya river and the soils are more loam in the river area and more calcareous in the parts of the hills.
