Lucien Lardy is a third-generation winemaker who cultivates 35 acres of vines in Beaujolais split between the appellations of Fleurie, Moulin à Vent, Morgon, and Beaujolais-Villages. "Coming from a family of four children, I was the only one to choose winemaker as my profession,” he explains. “My father left me a wonderful legacy that I wanted to honor and preserve. I am fortunate that as part of my daily work I am acting as a keeper of a French heritage. I get up early to take a walk in my vineyard which gives me much happiness and a strong sense of freedom."
Tasting Notes: “Glistening ruby-red. Vibrant, spice-accented red fruits and candied flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy and seamless in the mouth, where a spine of juicy acidity supports juicy boysenberry and raspberry preserve flavors. Shows very good energy and strong floral character on a persistent, subtly tannic finish that leaves sweet red fruit and smoky mineral notes behind.” –Josh Raynolds, Vinous
“This attractive, fruity wine comes from a vineyard with granite and sand soils. That gives structure to the red-cherry fruits and acidity that brings out a fresher side to the wine. Drink from late 2021.” –Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 89 points
