Höpler is an Austrian, family-owned, winery located southeast of Vienna in Burgenland. The estate cultivates 46 hectares (almost 114 acres) of vineyards in the Leithaberg Hills on the shores of Lake Neusiedl. Hoepler produces a range of styles, including 55% white wine, 40% red, and 5% dessert wine, from the grapes grown throughout their five vineyard sites in this area. Hoepler wines have a clear signature. They tend to be delicate, elegant, and high in minerality.
Tasting Notes: Dark ruby red in color, with a nose that suggests delicate berries, smokey spice, and ripe cherries. The wine is dark fruited and juicy on the palate, with fresh acidity and well-integrated echoes of oak.
“This is a complex wine with a strong color, ripe fruits of blueberries and blackberries, fuller-bodied, dense with structure and a fruity long finish.” –A La Carte Austrian Wine Guide, 92 points
Pairing: This wine is quite versatile when it comes to food pairings; it is excellent with roasted vegetables, a variety of meats including pork belly and lamb, and even paneer.
