Six wines from five countries guaranteed to cure the blues!
Do cold temps get you down? Do you ever feel like you're in a rut with routine? Do back-to-back problems at the beginning of the year feel like a drag?
Enter The Cure | First Quarter Blues six-pack. Our team has specially selected six wines from five countries to chase away bad news days, ruts of routine, and dreary days. Since our year began with our fair share of hiccups, the selection process for the wines in this package was especially poignant.
In each package, you'll receive a dry sparkling rosé from France that'll bring a smile to your lips, a classic NZ Sauvignon Blanc to pick you up and remind you that you're "the better half," two chillable red wines from Spain and Italy to keep it fresh and exciting, and two medium to full-bodied reds from Spain and Argentina that are high-quality outliers to the more ubiquitous reds from these perspective regions.
The wines:
NV Lelievre Brut Rose Eveques Leucquois 100% Gamay from the Lorraine, France (Quiche country!). Bright red raspberry fruit, wild strawberry, rose water and a dry, herbal finish. Crushably tasty, and an extreme value for biodynamic pink fizz.
2023 The Better Half Sauvignon Blanc A classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that pops with zesty fruits like peach, nectarine and passion fruit along with notes of lemon zest, kiwi, and granny apple.
2022 Amigo De La Tierra Rojo A bouncy and expressive nose of black currant, plums and cherries opens to an equally cheerful and lively palate. Black cherries, cassis, red and black plums, baking spice notes and Mediterranean herbs reminiscent of olive tapenade come together in a complete whole that’ll have you wanting another glass before you know it. Supple, smooth tannins hold these balanced flavors in place, and the fresh fruit tones in the wine add to a lifted, clean finish.
2021 Purato Nero d'Avola, Sicilia DOC Blackberry, bing cherry, and a hint of blueberry compote notes combined with baking spice and a hint of smokiness. The palate is extraordinarily fresh and lifted, round and complete, with a natural and effortless balance of tannin, acidity, structure, and length. You'll find a new wine fave here if you love varietals like Gamay Noir from places like Beaujolais.
2021 Vinos de Arganza Seculo Mencia Roble, Castilla y Leon, Spain This red wine may look humble, but it’s an extremely delicious, red-fruited Mencia that incorporates ripe raspberry, undercurrents of black currant, hints of smoky cedar, mandarin orange zest, and baking spice. This fruit medley follows to the palate, where they’re wrapped in silky smooth, juicy tannins with baking spice and a touch of herbal highlights.
2019 Vistalba Corte C, Mendoza Argentina This single-vineyard blend is meant to showcase the best of both varietals (Malbec and Cab) and the quality of the vineyard it comes from. Rich and luxurious notes of blackberry, plum, figs, blackcurrants, dark licorice, and toasty spice come into a delicious balance in this full-bodied wine with silky tannins. With its rich but balanced aromas and textures, this is the perfect wine for any evening of the week.
