From: Lalande de Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Varietal: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Taste: This is a young and delicious Right Bank Bordeaux that’ll open up wonderfully in your glass. As is typical for the area, this wine is mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc (the blend in the bottle mimics the plantings in the vineyard). Its aromas and flavors and rich and luxurious; full of rich dark fruits, cocoa, toasted vanilla, cherry, and spice highlighted with a hint of licorice.
Critical Acclaim: “The bold, ripe fruits of this blackberry-flavored wine are mixed generously with tannins. It is structured, still firm but with good potential. The 44-acre vineyard, dominated by Merlot, gives a wine that should be ready from 2024.” –Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 91 points
“Aromas of sweet berry and flowers follow through to a medium body, with firm, fine tannins and a linear finish. Tight and polished.” –James Suckling, 91 points
Pairing: Get your grilled steak (or portobello if you’re vegetarian) on! Also pairs well with duck, and lamb, BBQ chicken (or BBQ chicken pizza), teriyaki take-out, plus anything with a little char. We’re sharing a recipe for Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms, the original recipe from Dianne Wenz and adapted by Tara Parker-Pope, for a vegetarian main-course pairing.
About. The Château Moncets estate is the oldest vineyard between both estates owned by the chateaux. Created in 1770, it bears the name of the Général de Moncets who purchased it in 1872. Bought in 2012 by a french family company, the vines and cellars have been totally rehabilitated in order to sustain the vineyard and to integrate a second vineyard the « Château de Chambrun » .
