This week until the end of the year (except for this Thursday), we'll operate on special holiday hours. Tuesday, Wednesday 11-8 pm. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11-9 pm. Sunday, 11-5 pm. |

Changing of the Guard: Domaine Berthaut-GerbetThe moment importer's and wine lovers wait for is the changing of the guard. Sometimes it can go terribly, and sometimes very well; the family’s new vigneron, Amélie Berthaut has the promise of the latter. After graduating from the University of Bordeaux with a degree in Engineering and Viticulture-Enology, she quickly began a relatively peaceful transfer of power from her father, Denis. Her father’s wines speak the language one would imagine Burgundy wines did centuries ago. Amélie’s first vintage, 2013, at age 25, is a significant departure from her father’s.
We showed Amélie's wine this past Friday at our Burgundy tasting with Cyril Frechier, and can't cheer her on enough. Her village level, 2015 Fixin is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. We highly recommend getting a few bottles or cases before she becomes famous, and her wines become highly allocated. |
